A is for Apple!

I am very, very behind in posting. Hopefully you can use these to plan far in the future :)

September is a great time to have an apple unit.
Not only are apples in full abundance, but Johnny Appleseed's birthday is September 26th.

We read a book about Johnny Appleseed.

Little Miss thought it was great to wear a pan on her head just like Johnny.

I had used these letter cards in my kindergarten class, and was so excited to pull them out again to help Little Miss learn her letters!

She stamped her fingerprints inside the outline of the letters.

Super fun for her, and easy clean up for me since it's laminated!

We worked on one-to-one correspondence and following simple rules.

She did pretty good...

We also read "Ten Apples up on Top!" I drew Little Miss on a piece of our end roll**. And then she used the potato stamp that I made to look like an apple and stamped the apples on top of her head.

Oops! She got a little too excited about stamping. Luckily, we fixed it on our paper :)

And what would a day about apples be without apple prints?

Our "stamps" of the day.

Little Miss loved the stamping sooo much, that we decided to decorate envelopes and send some notes in the mail.

Paint Samples and Silly Bandz

Here's a fun sorting activity that is cheap and easy to put together.

Grab some paint samples from your local hardware store. (I laminated mine).

Pick up silly bandz. I've noticed them on clearance at a lot of stores. Even if they're not on sale, they're very affordable. I found these princess shaped rings at my grocery store for $0.79 each!

Now let them sort!

We sorted by color.

And we sorted by shape.

Happy Sorting!

green

I realized that I forgot to share what I did for the color green.
Here you go....

We went on a green scavenger hunt.

Little Miss found:

GRASS

(putting things in her green container)

green twig branches, the bottom of a green celery

Now to the fun part! We gathered all of our green things and our paints...

...and painted using our green items as "brushes".

Celery stamping makes some pretty awesome designs!

For snack we had vanilla yogurt and made swirls with green food coloring.

DIY Magnetic Alphabet

Ever get bored of the same old magnetic letters you find?

I was. I decided to make my own using cute stickers. I put the stickers in the laminating pockets, ran them through my laminator, cut them out and added adhesive magnets to the back.

These are so much cuter!
